Unicorns, Horror Movies & Lots Of Sugar--Oh My!

Unicorns, Horror Movies & Lots Of Sugar--Oh My!

This idea is for extremely goofy, silly people!

And yes, this is a teen B-day! So, FOOD!

* You can make homemade sushi with your friends

* Go to a midnight showing at the movie theaters (I prefer horror)

* Sleep over. Not really! RedBull and Monster all the way!

* More horror movies at home.

* Unicorn head cake and the inside--tie-dye colors!

* We might have Mezzaluna Pizza and Sour Patch Kids, gummy sharks, chocolate, and suuuuugar!

Reply: Great Ideas, But I Gotta Add My Two Bits

Cayln had some great teen party ideas, and she is right – teens are definitely going to appreciate lots of food! Making homemade sushi is a fun idea. Another great food idea is to let guests make their own mini pizzas. The easiest pizza "dough" to use is frozen bread roll dough. Once it has thawed, then roll it out into individual pizzas and then have teens put sauce, cheese and different toppings onto their pizza. Have a nice table full of toppings, including sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, pineapple, black olives, and other fun toppings. Other yummy options include BBQ or white sauce and chicken.

If you don’t want to work with pizza dough, buy English muffins and use them to make mini pizzas. Just add toppings as you would with pizza dough and bake. Just avoid over baking the English muffins so they don't become tough.

Horror movies aren't my idea of a good time, but teens sure love to watch them. Of course, you don’t have to go with horror movies, you could opt for comedies or another type of movie. Maybe your teen loves the Twilight movies. If so, have a Twilight movie marathon all night long. It can even be fun to have a variety of video games for teens to play, especially if they are sleeping over. You need to make sure that they do not get bored. Other than movies and video games, plan some other games and/or activities to keep that energy directed in the right direction.

If your teens think a traditional pillow fight is lame, you might want to step it up a bit and have them do a "snowball" fight without the use of snowballs. Make a bucket of "snowballs" before the party out of pantyhose and flour. All you need to do is cut off the legs, put a cup of flour into the toe, tie it off, and cut off the excess pantyhose. Then you need to continue tying off the leg, filling it with a cup of flour, tying it off again, cutting off the excess. Depending on how "good" you tie them off, they should last awhile. Of course this is an activity best done outside where you don't care that it gets covered with flour.

Another fun thing to do is to play games that requires something be passed from one teen to the next. For example, give everyone a plastic spoon and have them all put the handle into their mouth. Someone starts by placing a peanut onto their spoon and proceeds to pass it on to the next person. If the peanut falls, the teen making the pass is out; if they successfully make the pass, they stay. Continue playing until only one teen remains.

The same type of thing can be done with a zucchini between the knees. The teens try to pass a zucchini from one teen to the next while squeezing it between their knees and releasing it to the next teen at just the right time. The same rules above would apply to this game also.
