Tigger-iffic Tigger!

tigger cake

My one-year-old son was OBSESSED with Tigger, and would constantly carry around a stuffed companion everywhere we went. Naturally, at the time of his second birthday, I could think ONLY of making him a Tigger-ific Cake of Tigger!!

I started with a real easy buttercake recipe that I found online, and I baked Tigger in a rectangle pan. I searched my son's reading books for an outline of Tigger, which I photocopied and enlarged. I used the picture as both the template for cutting, and the inspiration for decoration.

The black frosting was the hardest part - it kept coming out a really dark grey, then I realized I would need to use an entire tub of black colorant to get it to work, which as you can see it did!

My son was just thrilled with the results, and it set the benchmark for all the cakes I would make after this one!

Now that you have spent a bit of time exploring the pictures on our page, you most likely have had a few ideas of your own pop into your head. Many individuals simply use the orange and black colors to create their cakes. There are some that may elect to use a cake pan that is shaped like Tigger. There are many types of Tigger cake toppers, toys, and candles that you could use in order to make a fun-filled Tigger birthday cake. If you are still undecided on how to create Tigger cakes for your next birthday celebration, our instructions below may help you make that final determination:

Instructions for a Vibrant Orange and Black Tigger the Tiger Cake

Items Needed:

  • Cake Tray
  • Round Cake Pan
  • White Cake Mix
  • Orange Food Coloring
  • White Icing
  • Orange Gel Paste
  • Orange Fondant
  • Black Fondant
  • Three Dimensional Edible Tigger Topper

Step 1: Whip together the white cake mix, then combine it with the orange food coloring to turn it the color orange, and bake it up in a round pan.

Step 2: Mix together your white icing and orange gel paste. This should give you the orange-colored frosting for the cake. Once the cake is completely cooled, frost the cake with the icing that you have prepared.

Step 3: Roll out the orange fondant--be sure to use enough that will cover your entire cake.

Step 4: Roll out the black fondant. Create a large circle that may be placed on top of the cake. Then, cut out little paw prints that may be placed in various locations onto your cake.

Step 5: Put the black fondant circle and the black paw prints all over the cake.

Step 6: Once everything is ready on the cake, place the three dimensional edible Tigger cake topper on top.
