Thomas the Train

My grandson loves trains and has some of the Thomas collection. I thought it would be fun to make a Thomas the Train cake for his third birthday.
I started by baking a sheet cake. I used black licorice for the track, and made up frosting for the different colors for water, grass and flowers. I used German chocolate frosting for the rocks, cinnamon sugar for the sand and between the train tracks, and candies for an extra color touch.
I placed the boat in the water and the train on the track that I had bought to add to his collection. It turned out to be a lot of fun. My grandson loved the cake and had a great birthday.Reply: Great Ideas, But I Gotta Add My Two BitsInvitation Idea
Debbi went all out with this awesome Thomas the Train cake. What a fabulous job she did in making the cake come alive, and adding so many fun details as well. This adorable cake had my mind whirling with some exciting ideas for a Thomas the Tank Engine birthday party. One cute idea you could use for your invitations is to start by creating them out of card stock so they look just like a train ticket. You can ask guests to bring their “Tickets” for admittance to the party.Thomas Party Decor
Decorating for a Thomas the Tank Engine birthday party will turn your party area into a whole new world for your toddler guests. Use some butcher paper or some duct tape to create train tracks throughout the party area. You could even use old appliance boxes to make your own cardboard train cars. Paint them up to look real and let the kids have their picture taken with the train. You can also use some poster board or cardboard to make some railroad crossing signs. You can either create the signs so they look real ones or make the signs look like the ones that are used in the Thomas & Friends television show.
