Thomas Train Birthday Cake
This Thomas the Train Engine Cake is one of my most popular cakes. I made this for my nephew's 2nd birthday.
I baked a half-sheet cake and a 9-inch round cake. I printed Thomas' face on my computer (be sure to print your picture as an iron-on or reversed picture). I then traced the picture in black icing with a #2 tip. I put the 9-inch cake on top of the half-sheet cake. I star-tipped the background and iced the round cake in gray.
Then I turned the picture I printed out and traced over it onto the round cake. When I removed the paper, Thomas' face was ready to decorate. I retraced the black lines and filled in the other details.
Since doing this cake, I have invested in an ediable printer. I use rice or wafer paper with it and it makes it a lot easier.

Thomas The Tank Engine Cake
I was inspired to make this cake because my 3-year-old nephew loves Thomas.
I used licorice for the train tracks so after the party, he would beable to use the wind-up trains without frosting being stuck in the wheels.
I also printed happy birthday with a wide round tip to make it look like clouds. I used the "grass" tip to make the number 3 to match the surrounding grass next to the trains.
