OVER THE HILL INVITATION - Cut 8 1/2" x 11" black card stock into two pieces. Write in white gel pen, "You Know You're Old When..." on the front. The following Over the Hill party ideas are provided for costumes fitting this theme. You can have everyone come in dark clothing, suggesting a time of mourning. If you want the guest of honor to really stand out, have everyone come in white and have the guest of honor wear black. FINGER SANDWICHES - Make crustless sandwiches on marble, white, and rye breads and cut into fourths.

BLACK AND WHITE PARTY BEANS - Serve black and/or white beans with shredded Monterey Jack cheese.

PASTA DISHES WITH WHITE SAUCE - Fettuccine Alfredo or pasta in white clam sauce.

PIZZA - Pizza with white cheese and black olives.

CHICKEN BREAST - Chicken breast strips with black bean dipping sauce.

HALIBUT - Grilled halibut with a few black char markings from the BBQ.

BLACK BEAN SOUP - Serve black bean soup with a dollop of sour cream.

SIDE DISHES - White potatoes or white rice.

BLACK & WHITE PARTY DESSERT

Ingredients
1 pkg. brownie mix
2 3.9-oz. pkgs. instant chocolate pudding mix
1 16-oz. pkg. frozen whipped topping, thawed
3 pieces of English Toffee (approx. 3-4 ounces)

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Cool.

Mix pudding according to package directions.

In a glass truffle bowl, layer in following order: 1/2 of brownies, crumbled; 1/2 of pudding; 1 piece of toffee, crushed; 1/2 of whipped topping.

Repeat layers. Refrigerate. Best if made day before. Top with crumbled toffee bar before serving.

CHOCOLATE FONDUE - Melt chocolate and have angel food cake cubes for dipping.

CHOCOLATE DIPPED STRAWBERRIES - Dip half the strawberry in dark chocolate and the other half in white chocolate. Be sure to cover up all the red.

DRINKS - Serve black coffee, Pepsi, Coke, or prune juice.

The following Over the Hill party ideas are provided to help you create a cake befitting such a theme:

TOMBSTONE CAKE #1 - Make a chocolate cake using the Wilton tombstone cake pan. Frost it with gray frosting. Pipe on "Over the Hill" and the birthday name.

TOMBSTONE CAKE #2 - Make a chocolate cake using the Wilton tombstone cake pan. Frost it light gray. Airbrush top with slightly darker gray. Pipe out with star tip dark gray edge along top of cake. Pipe out "R.I.P. Here Lies Your Youth!" on the tombstone.

TOMBSTONE CUPCAKES - Make or buy chocolate cupcakes. Frost with chocolate frosting. Top with crushed Oreo cookies, minus the white frosting center. Push a Pepperidge Farm Milano cookie into each cupcake. Pipe "R.I.P." onto cookie.

OVER THE HILL PHOTO MEMORY CAKE - Make or buy a sheet cake and have a bakery put 10-12 photos of the honoree on the cake ranging from birth to the present.

GRIM REAPER CAKE - Make or buy a chocolate cake. Create 7 graves on the cake by piping out 7 "pieces" of green grass. Hollow out 1 grave (reserved for the honoree) and only pipe out grass around the edges. Push a Pepperidge Farm Milano cookie at the top of the 6 full graves. Pipe on "R.I.P." on each cookie. On the honoree's grave, put a plastic Grim Reaper at the top of the grave. Then add a Happy Birthday message on the cake.
