When you think of making a costume you might draw a blank. A lot of time the hardest part of creating the costume is just coming up with a great idea. Keep reading to see how we are adding our two cents in order to try and assist you in your quest to come up with a costume that will have wow-factor!

When the party ends, you need not let the good-byes be the final word on the subject. Keep the party going in the minds of your guests by sharing pictures of all those fun costumes that everyone wore. We have created a costume photo gallery which allows for you the talented reader, to share with us, your guests, along with the world, photos of the costumes that you have made, or store-bought costumes that you have altered to turn them into a unique costume original. You may also share any tips and hints as to how to make the costume, along with providing any other information that you think our readers might enjoy. I will then upload your masterpieces to the gallery of photos. Then you can invite all those party-goers to visit your own personal web page and enjoy reliving your fun party.

After all, we don't want to let all of your wonderful creativity be hidden away or go to waste. In essence, why would you want to go to all the trouble of spending countless, endless hours creating your costume masterpiece to ultimately only wear it once, take a few photos, toss it aside, and call it a day?

Also, if you are feeling a bit stuck for an idea, the homemade costumes gallery will also serve as a springboard to ignite your creativity. Sometimes by viewing other people's costume creations, it serves to provide you with an idea of your own.

So, if you don't want to see yourself coming and going by wearing a commercial costume, or you are tired of dressing up in the same costume each year, then you are probably gearing up to make your own creation. Usually you will be able to save some $$, plus it allows for your imagination to run wild. You can be everything from an apple to a zebra. To get started, begin thinking outside of the box.

For example, you can garner ideas by thinking about what your child likes to play with--dinosaurs, Legos, Rubik's Cube, Batman, swords, cars, dolls, etc. Pick one of your child's "loves" and turn that into a costume.

Another way to come up with ideas is to think of your favorite TV shows, movies, cartoons, books, and super heroes that might be worthy of a costume creation.

Look around your little world to glean an idea or two. For example, be a piece of furniture, or join the techno world and show up as the latest, greatest iPod. Or perhaps you could be an object in your house that exemplifies who you are. For example, a sewing machine, a tool, a book, or a TV.

Also, you can draw ideas from your favorite or not-so-favorite foods. For example, you could become a box of popcorn, sushi, a box of cereal, a can of soda, a piece of pizza, a hot dog, or perhaps a condiment.

To continue our quest to help you to come up with that fantabulous costume idea, we've gathered together some photos of homemade costumes that we have come across. If you would like to take a look at a particular type of costume, then just click on the link and you'll be off and running to all the fun costume photos!
