Happy Harvest Cake
My sister has a birthday that is already within a few days of Thanksgiving, so this year I thought it would be a cool idea to throw her a Thanksgiving birthday party for her. Since I decided to use the Thanksgiving and harvest theme, it made it easy for me to come up with party décor, invitations, food ideas and more.
For the Thanksgiving birthday party décor, I focused on using fall colors, including red, orange and yellow. With the addition of brown trimmings, it really looked amazing. On the wall, I put up a tree decal and added colored leaves to add a harvest feel. I also used pumpkins, various squashes and sheaves of corn to decorate the party area as well.
We served up a traditional Thanksgiving meal at the party, which filled up all the guests. Then, I served up a delicious cake that I actually made myself for my sister. I started with a square cake that had two layers and a rich vanilla filling in the middle. I used a white icing base and then use brown to create the outline of a big tree. I added fake leaves to the tree in fall colors. I also used black icing to draw in a bench under the tree, which really added to it. Not only did it taste wonderful, but it looked great and my sister adored it. It was really easy and it looked so amazing. I actually shocked myself.
