Fun Beach Cake
Rastus - The Local Beer Guy

This cake was made for a friend who celebrated her 50th birthday by going on a cruise to the Caribbean and enjoying a beach holiday.

The cake was an 8" vanilla cake, rum buttercream filling and it’s covered in fondant icing. The figures were made to resemble the couple (my 50-year old friend and husband) and the beers that are popular in the Caribbean. The cake had the famous Bajan beer logo on them. Rastus, the local beach beer seller was created and placed into a swinging hammock, which was something he enjoyed doing.

Reply: Great Ideas, But I Gotta Add My Two Bits

This cake by Linda just makes me smile! It’s one of the loveliest 50th birthday cake ideas I’ve seen and it’s sure to give you some wonderful 50th birthday cake ideas for your own party.

OTHER 50TH BIRTHDAY CAKE IDEAS- If your guest of honor will be sailing away on a cruise to celebrate his or her birthday, another of the 50th birthday cake ideas is to create a round cake done in shades of blue icing to look like the ocean. Make a sailboat out of gum paste or find a sailboat cake topper or toy which can easily be added to the cake top, making it look like the boat is sailing off into the sunset. Another great cake idea is to create a sheet cake, decorating the cake to look like a deserted island with the ocean all around it. Use blues for the ocean and use browns and greens for the island. Have fun adding some trees, animal life or people to the island as well for a beautiful beach themed cake.

50TH BIRTHDAY PARTY GAME IDEAS - Since turning 50 is all about relaxing and enjoying the day, it’s a good idea to choose 50th birthday party ideas that are laid back and easy going. A party with a relaxed beach theme is a wonderful choice, especially if the guest of honor is a huge fan of just taking in the beach atmosphere. On the other hand, it's also nice to get everyone up and moving about with a spirited game of beach volleyball or perhaps a round of bocce ball which is a far more subdued, but still a blast and will get people working together as teams, while enjoying a friendly game that offers a bit of competition.
