Now it is time for you to come up with a way that you may create your own Candyland cake. If you have a lot of time, patience, creative skills, and money to invest in the materials for the project, you could probably make a cake that looks just like the board game using fondant for the squares and three dimensional cake toppers such as peppermint sticks and a gingerbread house. However, if you want to simply capture the essence of the candy pieces in the game, you may create a cake using real candy, or, candy pieces that you create from sugar and/or fondant. For a simple Candyland cake, you may use the following instructions:

Instructions for Creating a Basic Candyland Birthday Cake

  • Rectangular Cake Pan
  • White Cake Mix
  • White Frosting or White Fondant
  • Candyland Edible Cake Topper Image
  • Peppermint Candies – Unwrapped
  • Hot Pink Writing Icing

Step 1: Make a sheet cake according to your box instructions and let it cool. Then transfer it to a cake plate.

Step 2: Either cover the cake with white fondant or cover it with white frosting.

Step 3: Top the cake off with the placement of an edible frosting sheet that displays imagery from the Candyland game.

Step 4: Place the peppermint candies along each side of the cake, leaving about a half inch between each piece.

Step 5: Use the hot pink writing icing and go along the bottom sides of the cake, and around the edible cake image to accent it and give the cake a professional and finished appearance.
