Instructions for a Simple Bowling Pin Costume

Items Needed:

  • Black Shirt
  • Black Pants
  • Black Shoes
  • White Polyfoam
  • Red Felt Pieces

Step 1: The first step is to take two pieces of white polyfoam that are approximately the size of the body of the individual that will be wearing the costume and create an outline that is the shape of a bowling pin. One piece will act as the front and one piece will serve as the back.

Step 2: Next, cut out a section of the front white polyfoam piece for the face.

Step 3: In the chest area on the front piece and the corresponding region on the back piece, place two strips of red felt. These are the stripes of the bowling pin.

Step 4: Using adhesive or thread, stick the two pieces of foam together, leaving only enough room for the arms and the legs.

Step 5: Put on the shirt, pants, and shoes. Then, slide the polyfoam aspect of the costume on the individual that will be wearing it. Now, you have created a bowling pin!

The instructions outlined here are perhaps the easiest and least expensive of all options when it comes to creating a bowling pin costume. If you really want to be creative, you may use glow-in-the-dark paint like they use in cosmic bowling, or, create a multi-colored bowling pin; the choice is yours.
