Bowling Cake Idea - Adam's Sweet Emporium & Bowling Alley Cake
Fun Bowling Cake -- Rack 'Em Up & Strike Them Out!
MY CAKE – As I don´t actually bake – I buy ready-made sponges and construct theme cakes for family parties. My grandson turned ten years with a bowling party. I put four rectangular sponges together, covered in roll-out fondant icing and surrounded with chocolate marshmallows, resembling giant bowling balls. The characters were cut out from clip-art – a bowler with his "girlfriend" looking on.
We live in Spain and I found a two-dimensional postcard with a señorita dressed in a lace flamenco dress. The googly-eyed green bowling pins are also cut from clip-art – all held in position with a few toothpicks. The giant bowling balls on the cake are lollipops on sticks. A few sherbet-filled flying saucers add colour around the edges, and red-string licorice makes the lines on the bowling lane.
When we announced "cake time" at the party, 18 kids jumped to the table and were allowed to take the cakes and sweets, before we shared out the cake.
This is one of the most innovative bowling cakes! Sandy is just super creative! No wonder everyone wanted to get a part of this delicious treat.
I have to admit, this cake looks so yummy that it got me thinking about some fun bowling party ideas for the party menu. One fun idea is to serve up some Pinwheels, or Mallowmars, which are cookies that are topped with marshmallow and then covered in delicious chocolate. Sandy used something similar for this cake and these cookies look so much like bowling balls that they are a great party food idea.
Another of the cool bowling party ideas to try is to serve up some oranges, since they are round like bowling balls. Label them as “citrus bowling balls” and you have a delicious, healthy dish to serve up at the party. Another idea would be to make up some "bowling ball" cupcakes. Decorate them so they have the infamous ball appearance. If you use this option, make sure you make the bowling ball cupcakes in all kinds of different colors, making the food table look colorful. Add indentations in the cupcakes so they truly look like little bowling balls.
