Party Like A Rock Star -- Get Down & Get Funky!

My son loves bubbles, pinwheels, music, the outdoors, Mexican food, and drums. The theme is all about him and what he loves! The party's purpose is not to please all the adults. A 1-year-old doesn't have to watch TV to have a favorite character.

Make your baby's first birthday theme all about your baby and about those things your baby likes to do. Let them be the center of attention and keep the party's focus on the baby's likes.

If you’re searching for 1st birthday party ideas, Jenna’s idea is a good one – making the theme of the party all about your little baby boy or girl. While you can search through 1st birthday themes to find one that goes with your baby’s likes and interests, I think Jenna’s idea is a great alternative to using a traditional theme. Like she said, you can choose a few of your child’s favorite things and center the party around them.

For example, does your baby love music? If so, consider adding some musical touches to the party, such as some toy instruments or turn some every day household objects into their instrument of choice. Pots and pans with a wooden spoon immediately come to mind. It could also be fun to play some of your baby’s favorite tunes in the background for your little guests to enjoy. If you need a few 1st birthday party ideas for kid-friendly tunes, here are a few to consider using for your party playlist:

- “B-I-N-G-O”
- “Five Little Ducks”
- “The Hokey-Pokey”
- Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”
- “Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes”
- “The Alphabet Song”
- “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
- “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”
- “Baby Beluga”
- “The Hairbrush Song” (by Veggie Tales)
- “I’m a Little Teapot”
- “Rock a Bye Baby”

If your baby has a favorite TV show that they love to watch, you might want to consider playing a short show for the kids, especially when you’re trying to calm and/or quiet them down a bit. Your child is sure to enjoy it and it is a great way to keep all your little guests from getting bored.
