You are sure to discover that, while numerous military costumes are available on the market, it is much easier, exciting, and cost-effective to create your very own Army theme costume. By combining elements such as camouflage clothing pieces, various types of helmets, boots, and medals, you may easily create a basic Army uniform. By throwing in other types of materials, such as a painted cardboard box and toy weaponry, you may create highly creative costumes, such as a distinguished army tank. If your child is interested in an Army costume, you should combine various elements of creativity to make a unique and memorable piece.

Below, you will discover simple instructions on how to create an army tank costume that not only displays the child’s dedication to the military branch, but also displays the immense power of the popular Army tank that is utilized in nearly every war scenario. This is considered to be one of the most unique Army theme costumes for kids. It is sure to create a lot of attention and enhance the memories of the child that wears it:

Guidelines for a Basic Army Tank Costume

Items Needed:

  • Camouflage Hat
  • Camouflage Shirt
  • Camouflage Pants
  • Green, Black, or Brown Boots or Shoes
  • Medium to Large Cardboard Box
  • Green, Black, and Brown Paints or Camouflage Duct Tape
  • Green or Black Yarn

Step 1: When preparing the costume, the first step is to prepare the cardboard box. This will be the “tank” in this Army costume. You will want to ensure that the box is large enough to slide over your child, but not so large that it becomes an obstruction or a burden to the child.

Step 2: Once you have the box, piece it together using heavy duty tape.

Step 3: Once the box is put together, use a box cutter and cut out the area where your child will slide the box over themselves. There should be an opening on the top of the box and on the bottom of the box.

Step 4: Now, have your child gather the green, black, and brown paints and paint the box in camouflage. If you prefer not to use paints, you may purchase camouflage duct tape and have your child cover the box with this, instead.

Step 5: Once the box has dried from the paint, or the duct tape is completely covering the box, take the yard and cut strips that will be attached to the box that the child may place over their heads in order to hold the box once it is on their body.

Step 6: The final step of the project is to put all of the camouflage clothing on your child, slide the box over their body and ensure that the shoes are placed on their feet.

Additional Step: If you want to integrate weaponry on the Army tank costume, it may be best to veer away from toy weapons that look realistic. Instead, create toy guns and shooter systems out of an additional piece of cardboard and place them on the front of the box that is acting as the tank.
