As you viewed all of the above photos and had an opportunity to peruse some great ideas, I'm sure your mind drew some inspiration as to how you might create your own Alice in Wonderland costumes. Assuming you've decided that you do not wish to rent or purchase your classic Alice threads for the night, I've put together a few ideas to help you create your own Alice in Wonderland costume.

Instructions For Easy To Make Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Items Needed
  • Sky Blue Dress
  • White Collar
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Petticoat or Tulle
  • White Apron or Pinafore
  • White Tights or Knee Socks
  • Black Flats
  • Blonde Wig
  • Headband

Step 1: Start by going to your local thrift shops and find a sky blue dress that has a full skirt and hits you around the knee area.

Step 2:If the dress doesn't have a little white rounded collar, you can quickly make one out of white felt. All you have to do is cut out the collar shape and use double-stick tape to adhere it to your dress or attach it with tiny safety pins. This way you won't have to concern yourself with hemming raw edges.

Step 3:If the dress doesn't have short puffy sleeves, then you'll have to improvise. An easy way to puff them up a bit is with a couple of layers of shoulder pads.

Step 4:If you have the good fortune to find some ready-made petticoats, scoop them up to fill out your skirt. If you aren't able to find any, then you'll have to resort to creating your own. The good news is that you can make them very cheap with tulle which is about $1 a yard.

Step 5:Top off the dress with a white apron or pinafore and it's good to go. Now all you have to do is add a pair of white tights or white knee socks and flat black shoes, preferably patent leather Mary Jane style that has the little strap across the top.

Step 6:Be sure to get a long blond wig if you don't naturally have Miss Alice's blonde hair, preferably one with bangs. Add a headband and you'll be ready to travel the rabbit hole.

If you're now thinking that this type of costume requires too much effort, there are a few great ready-made options to your right that you might want to consider instead.
