Hippie Chick--A Blast Back To The Past

Go retro with a hippie party—-it can be really cool if you require everyone to come dressed like hippies and you put up a lot of hippie kind of decorations.

Wearing hippie clothes will be really fun for everyone and it probably won't cost much to put a costume together. Some people might still have a few things from back in the day in their closets. Tie-dye shirts, fringe vests, big bell bottom pants, go-go-boots, and mini skirts should be just about all you see. Long hair parted in the middle with a headband across the forehead would be really fun. Be sure to throw in some love beads and flowers.

Play all the rock n' roll music of the 70s and add some signs that say make love not war in bright neon colors. Be sure everyone has a groovy time.

Reply: Great Ideas, But I Gotta Add My Two Bits

Jessica added this groovy idea for a birthday party and I couldn’t help but run with this theme a bit, coming up with a few more hippie party ideas of my own. If you were a child of the 70s or you just don’t think disco is dead, a hippie party is one of the best adult birthday party ideas to try.

While Jessica focused on some of the awesome costume ideas you can use at the hippie party, you definitely want to make sure you have some groovy 70s music to listen to at the party as well. If you need a few ideas for your playlist, the following are some great 70s tunes to consider:

- “Take It To The Limit” – The Eagles
- “Kung Fu Fighting” – Carl Douglas
- “How Deep is Your Love – The Bee Gees
- “My Sharona” – The Knack
- “Tonight’s The Night” – Rod Steward
- “Joy To The World” – Three Dog Night
- “Stayin’ Alive – The Bee Gees
- “Bridge Over Troubled Water” – Simon & Garfunkel
- “American Pie” – Don McLean
- “Cracklin’ Rosie” – Neil Diamond
- “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds – The Beatles
- “The Hustle” – Van McCoy
- “Get Down Tonight” – K.C. & The Sunshine Band
- “Sister Golden Hair” – America

After you get your 70s tunes together, you’ll want to focus on some great party decorations. Have a lot of fun with tie-dye decorations, adding some great hippie-style banners to the house. If you can find a great disco ball, hang it at the center of the room for an awesome look.
